Taking Care of Your Knitwear.

Each jumper from Mad Brown Knitwear is reclaimed. Every garment that comes in is carefully repaired, to hide the pre loved scars and embroider in new colours to enhance the cable patterns.

Natural wool is incredible, it does not have to be washed as often as other materials as they do not stain or absorb odours as easily.

As these jumpers are 100% wool and reclaimed, they need to be handled and cared for gently. Please follow the following instructions to ensure that your knitwear is loved and worn for another lifetime.

Hand Washing Instructions.

We recommend hand washing in a sink or bath. Please never put your wool knitwear in a washing machine or tumble dryer, this will cause the knit to felt and you will risk ruining your garment.

  1. Soak your Mad Brown Knitwear jumper in lukewarm water for 15 minutes.

  2. Drain this water and remove your jumper. Fill your basin with lukewarm water again and dd a wool detergent and soak your knitwear for another 10 minutes.

  3. Drain water and rinse with lukewarm water making sure you do not ring or pull. This stretches the knitwear out.

  4. When the jumper is rinsed out, lay flat and then roll up in a dry towel to absorb the water.

  5. Leave on a flat surface to dry naturally.

To remove any cosmetic stains such as makeup and food, either use a damp cloth or baby wipe to gently dab and wipe.

Storing your Knitwear.

We always recommend neatly folding up your Mad Brown Knitwear jumper to keep its shape. Storing your knitwear on a hanger may cause it to lose its shape and stretch over time.

If storing your knitwear for a long period of time ensure it is concealed in an airtight box to prevent any moisture getting in. We also recommend storing your jumper with a little pouch of lavender to keep it smelling fresh and the moths away.
